Grease (1978)

(Note: Considering that this movie is a musical, please hum to yourself while reading the following script.)

The PINK LADIES sit around in pencil skirts and smoke with bored expressions on their faces as OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN—a blond goody-two-shoes fresh off the boat from Australia—mopes and bemoans life.

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN
I met such a babe this summer, and now I’ll never see him—my love, JOHN TRAVOLTA—again!

Teen hood JOHN TRAVOLTA shows up with the rest of his leather-jacket-clad gang, the T-BIRDS, and his mouth drops open at the sight of OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN.

JOHN TRAVOLTA
OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN! What are you doing here? How I’ve missed you! Oh, shit, I just showed too much emotion. I can’t believe I just acted like I cared in front of all my friends! No one will think I’m cool if I’m nice. What I really meant to say was, “Hey.”

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN
Just a “hey”? That’s it: We’re through!

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN runs away in tears and has a soda with a JOCK in revenge, igniting JOHN TRAVOLTA’s jealousy.

JOHN TRAVOLTA
I’m going to letter in track to win her heart, and she’s going to go to the dance contest with me!

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN and JOHN TRAVOLTA go to the dance contest, where he dances with his SLUTTY EX, igniting OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN’s jealousy.

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN
We’re through! Again!

The T-BIRDS drag JOHN TRAVOLTA over to Grease Lightning, the car they’ve fixed up in shop, and stuff him behind the wheel.

T-BIRDS
Forget her! We need you to race THE VILLAIN at Thunder Road!

JOHN TRAVOLTA races THE VILLAIN and wins. OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN looks on wistfully.

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN
Pine! Something must be done!

O’Henry style, JOHN TRAVOLTA shows up at the carnival on the last day of school wearing his varsity sweater to find that the PINK LADIES had given OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN a smokin’ makeover.

JOHN TRAVOLTA
(collapsing to the ground in what appears to be a seizure)
You’re electrifying!

OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN and JOHN TRAVOLTA make out, dance and/or sing on all the carnival rides, and then fly their hot red car off the premises and into the sky. Fin.
